Under both the last government and this one, secret letters were sent to some 200 Irish terrorist suspects, informing them that they were not currently wanted by the police. Having previously condemned this policy, on April 8 Alistair Lexden asked for assurances that the police would actively seek the evidence needed to bring them to trial.
