On March 22, the Lords debated the government’s plans for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to be held in London in April.

In his contribution to the debate, Alistair Lexden praised the impressive programme of events that the government has devised before returning to a subject which he has made the principal theme of his speeches on the Commonwealth: the denial of the human rights of LGBT citizens in some 80 per cent of Commonwealth countries where homosexuality is a criminal offence.
