Prince Charles, the busiest royal

On December 29, an article in The Times carried the headline ‘Princess Anne crowned busiest royal’. This was seriously misleading, as Alistair Lexden made clear to the newspaper. It was, he said, the head of her brother that ought to have been adorned.

After discussion, it was agreed that The Times would publish a clarification. It appeared on January 6 and explained that the Princess Royal had undertaken more engagements in the United Kingdom. But, it went on, ‘when overseas engagements are taken into account, the Prince of Wales carried out a total of 546 to the Princess Royal’s 540’.

What a fine example both of them set to younger members of the royal family, who should emulate it in the years ahead.
