In a speech on June 30 (see below), Alistair Lexden expressed deep concern about the way in which the authorities of the Church of England had dealt with a single uncorroborated allegation of sexual abuse brought against a revered bishop several decades after his death.

In June the Church promised an independent review of the case. Four and a half months have passed without any further news.

Alistair Lexden drew attention to the Church’s worrying inaction in a short speech in the Lords on November 16 during a debate on pre-charge anonymity for those suspected of sexual abuse, a reform which he strongly supports.
