On January 23, during the final day of discussion in the Lords on the Electoral Registration and Administration Bill, he restated the case for ending the current 15-year limit on the voting rights of British subjects overseas. The Minister who replied to the debate, the Liberal Democrat Lord Wallace of Saltaire, suggested that Lord Lexden should convene an all-party group to consider how reform might be achieved.
