A memorial service for Sir Patrick Lawrence, who chaired the Conservative Party Conference in 1986, took place in Birmingham Cathedral on February 20th.
Lord Lexden, a former senior Party official, represented Lady Thatcher who greatly appreciated the way Sir Patrick ensured the success of the 1986 Conference—with its theme ‘ The Next Moves Forward’-- which played a vital part in preparing the Party for her third consecutive general election victory the following year.
