The Government is due to introduce a new British Bill of Rights to replace Labour’s Human Rights Act 1998. Key issues relating to this important constitutional and legal reform were debated in the Lords on July 2.

Alistair Lexden urged the Government to ensure that the new Bill was compatible with the European Convention on Human Rights, and drew attention to disparities between Northern Ireland and the rest of the country on certain human rights issues.
