Seeking justice for IRA victims

On October 27, the Lords gave a Second Reading to a Private Member’s Bill introduced by Lord (Reg) Empey, former leader of the Ulster Unionist Party. The Bill proposes that funds of some £9.5 billion, deposited in this country by Colonel Gaddafi and now frozen, should be drawn on to provide compensation to a number of victims of the IRA’s terror campaign in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, a campaign that was largely sustained by arms and ammunition supplied by Gaddafi.
