Lord Lexden is co-chairman (with the Labour peer, Lord Dubbs) of the London Friends of the Belfast Buildings Preservation Trust.

He and Lord Dubbs were the hosts at a reception held in the House of Lords on June 21st to mark the Trust's fifteenth anniversary. A large gathering of fellow peers, MPs, journalists and supporters of the Trust heard details of its most ambitious project to date: the restoration of an important, historic Methodist church in a strife- torn part of north Belfast which is on the World Heritage list of the most endangered buildings. A multi-million pound appeal for funds, which will come entirely from the private sector, has now been launched.
